Deepak Padhi is an Assistant Professor at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Bhubaneswar, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. He teaches in the department of Fashion Communication.

Additionally, he holds the administrative responsibility of Student Development Activity Coordinator (SDAC) and oversees the institute's student affairs and developmental activities. He also serves as the institute’s Nodal Officer for the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), Government of India.

Deepak has recently submitted his PhD thesis at the IDC School of Design, IIT Bombay. His doctoral thesis focuses on Designing Hyperlocal Educational Videos for Parent-Child Engagement in the Low-literacy Emergent User's context. He has authored multiple research publications in collaboration with national and international researchers and organizations. His work is recognized in the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Educational Technology, and ICTD communities.

He also serves as a distinguished reviewer for the reputed journals and conferences like ACM Transactions on Computer-Human Interaction (TOCHI), ACM Journal on Computing and Sustainable Societies (JCSS), ACM CHI conference, etc. He has served as an invited speaker and jury member at several events like Startup Grind, Techfest - IIT Bombay,  Inter INCI Cultural Meet - IISER Berhampur, ACM SIGCHI IIT Bombay student chapter, etc.

Prior to his academic career, Deepak co-founded and served as the head of design at theUXWhale, a design research studio focused on research-driven UI/UX design solutions.

​

​He holds a B.Tech in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, along with two master’s degrees: an MBA from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, and an M.Des from IIITDM Kancheepuram, Chennai.
